Techno has developed expertise in designing and manufacturing products dedicated to electrical connections in architectural lighting
Architectural lighting transcends mere functionality. Light shapes the identity of a space, moulding or transforming its perception by the public. In squares such as museums, historical buildings and public structures, light sculpt forms, emphasizes details, and enhances beauty. It is, therefore, a powerful tool for expression available to architects and lighting professionals, requiring a careful balance of various elements and particular attention to electrical connections, which must be safe, reliable, and visually unobtrusive.
b exterior lighting of historic buildings and villas, for example, it is important to highlight the style of walls and façades, while maintaining coherence between the building’s history and the desired effect. In this case, using small connectors helps create an installation that respects tradition while maintaining “invisible” appearance in its functional components.
In gardens and open spaces, low-level lighting for fountains and water features, as well as statues and decorations, creates a strong visual impact. This results in the need for stable electrical connections, protected from liquids, dust, debris, and resistant to physical stress and foot traffic.
In newly constructed public buildings light is intended to convey a sense of efficiency, safety, and modern aesthetics.
Similarly, in street lighting, light is the enabling factor for the enjoyment of squares, streets, and open spaces by both residents and tourists. In these contexts, installations must deliver an impactful effect while also being resistant to multiple factors: not only weather conditions, liquids, and dust, but also vandalism and any other causes of sudden disconnections.
A modern architectural lighting system must, therefore, provide a professional service and, within its context, imperceptible to the eye through the use of compact, visually discreet connectors with an aesthetic compatible with various environments. From a functional perspective, the various light fixtures must be capable of being connected both in series and parallel configurations, easily inspectable, and accessible for maintenance, even by untrained personnel. Consequently, they must be powered by compact AC and DC connectors, easy to install, and capable of ensuring adequate IP protection from water, dust, resistance to weathering, and mechanical stress.
Thanks to the experience gained alongside Italian and international partners, Techno has developed expertise in designing and manufacturing products dedicated to electrical connections in architectural lighting. These include connectors, mini-joints, and other customized solutions with reduced dimensions, usable with rigid or flexible cables, offering high protection against water and dust, even in conditions of continuous submersion, with IP ratings tailored product by product based on specific needs. They are resistant to extreme temperatures (from -30°C to +100°C) without compromising functionality, mechanical stress, and cable bending, ensuring continuity of operation.
Moreover, they are approved for both alternating and direct current and can integrate IoT devices for system control and management. The Easy-click system speeds up installation and maintenance tasks. The option of co-molded gaskets offer additional protection to cables against dust, debris, and water, making it especially useful for lighting fixtures in architectural applications in contact with water.
The use of state-of-the-art connectors positively impacts design, installation, and maintenance timelines and costs. Techno’s 100% Made in Italy solutions allow lighting professionals to solve and overcome challenges related to the electrical supply and distribution of lighting fixtures, enable them to focus on designing impactful, evocative lighting schemes that establish and ensure emotional connections between places, buildings, and visitors.
Techno’s invisible solutions for 24V and 48V architectural will be the focal point of a specially designed relaxation area in the heart of Milan from April 9-13, as part of Fuorisalone at the Mint Garden Café, Porta Venezia. A serene, green-filled, and “magical” space, combining dining with the sensory experience generated by nature, where visitors can relax and enjoy a drink in tranquil conversation. The architectural lighting solutions presented will merge technological innovation and comfort through human-centric design, “ghost” lighting, and chromotherapy effects that promote well-being without “invading” or damaging the environment’s aesthetics. “Hidesign” will also present a Techno case study, created by combining Additive Manufacturing with modern architectural lighting solutions.
The event is organized in collaboration with selected technology partners to enhance the objective. These include LED Italy, known for its use of customized technical solutions and cutting-edge linear technologies, and Stratasys, Techno’s partner for additive manufacturing, a leader in professional additive technologies used in production. The LED lighting solution, temporary installations, and smart Casambi technology for advanced color and lighting effect control, powered by Techno solutions, will offer visitors a personalized experience where elegance and functionality blend into a truly unique experience.
