{"id":25027,"date":"2023-10-23T16:09:46","date_gmt":"2023-10-23T14:09:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.staffedit.it\/focus-bilanci-di-sostenibilita-il-percorso-di-gewiss\/"},"modified":"2023-11-20T16:38:33","modified_gmt":"2023-11-20T15:38:33","slug":"focus-sustainability-reports-the-gewiss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.staffedit.it\/en\/focus-sustainability-reports-the-gewiss\/","title":{"rendered":"Focus sustainability reports: the GEWISS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During 2022, activities for the continuous pursuit of <strong>energy efficiency and optimization of production facilities <\/strong>in Italy, Germany, and Portugal enabled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.staffedit.it\/en\/tag\/gewiss-en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>GEWISS<\/strong> <\/a>to <strong>reduce energy consumption by 8% compared to 2021<\/strong>. In particular, there has been a <strong>23% decrease in the consumption of natural gas<\/strong> used for heating and industrial processes. Consistent with the reduction in direct energy consumption, direct emissions dropped by <strong>13%<\/strong>. With a total of 2,058 tons in 2022, <strong>waste generated also decreased by 9%<\/strong> from the previous year. The company&#8217;s <strong>non-hazardous waste management<\/strong> also marked a recovery rate of more than <strong>75%<\/strong> of the total. Attention is also paid to the supply chain: in 2022, <strong>60 percent of suppliers are based in Italy<\/strong>, while the rest are distributed <strong>33 percent in Europe and 7 percent in the rest of the world<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>To promote and develop human capital internally and in local communities in 2022, a total of <strong>19,312 hours of training were provided to Group people<\/strong>, while GEWISS Academy, the corporate area dedicated to professional training, carried out the tenth edition of &#8220;Un Progetto di Classe&#8221;, a competition intended for professional institutes throughout Italy, with the aim of enhancing and disseminating good practices in electrical design through the use of GEWISS technical softwares.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The PERFORMANCE iN LIGHTING path <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>With a view to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, PERFORMANCE iN LIGHTING developed a plan with <strong>three main goals<\/strong>: <strong>health and well-being<\/strong> (SDG3), <strong>gender equality<\/strong> (SDG5), and <strong>dignified work and economic growth<\/strong> (SDG8). Each goal was the focus of an additional internal survey that involved the entire company and the ambassadors identified for each area in a participatory manner.<\/p>\n<p>With the aim of <strong>improving employees&#8217; quality of life<\/strong>, facilitating efforts to <strong>balance work and family<\/strong>, and creating a <strong>healthy and efficient work environment<\/strong>, PERFORMANCE iN LIGHTING enhanced its offerings of <strong>welfare goods and services<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>An <strong>approach to the well-being<\/strong> of people and the environment that in PERFORMANCE iN LIGHTING also translates into product design. In addition to <strong>technical requirements<\/strong>, the <strong>Human Centric Lighting<\/strong> approach ties in with circadian rhythms and develops lighting that focuses on people&#8217;s physical well-being and emotional sphere through concrete and tangible effects.<\/p>\n<p>Environmental initiatives in 2022 include the <strong>introduction of electric and hybrid vehicles<\/strong> and the <strong>relamping project<\/strong> to replace obsolete luminaires in product departments with LED technology.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>During 2022, activities for the continuous pursuit of energy efficiency and optimization of production facilities in Italy, Germany, and Portugal enabled GEWISS to reduce energy consumption by 8% compared to 2021.
