{"id":43464,"date":"2026-10-22T18:45:14","date_gmt":"2026-10-22T16:45:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.staffedit.it\/?p=43464"},"modified":"2026-10-23T17:54:37","modified_gmt":"2026-10-23T15:54:37","slug":"light-design-village-opening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.staffedit.it\/en\/light-design-village-opening\/","title":{"rendered":"LIGHT DESIGN VILLAGE opening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Light Design Village is born: the new permanent hub dedicated to the culture of light.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Last July, <\/strong>the <strong>Light Design Village<\/strong> &#8211; the new permanent hub promoted by Rete di Imprese <a href=\"https:\/\/www.staffedit.it\/en\/tag\/luce-in-veneto-en\/\">Luce in Veneto<\/a> and dedicated to the culture of light &#8211; was <strong>officially presented<\/strong> at Villa C\u00e0 Marcello, in Piombino Dese (Padua), <strong>announcing the 2026\/2027 programming on the theme &#8220;Transparencies&#8221;<\/strong>. The Opening attracted over one hundred and fifty participants, including companies, architects, lighting designers, professionals, representatives of institutions, industry associations, journalists, teachers and students, confirming the strong interest in a project that is unique on the Italian scene.<\/p>\n<p>The day opened with institutional greetings from <strong>Alberto <\/strong><strong>Sozza<\/strong>, President of Rete di Imprese Luce in Veneto, <strong>Massimo Bitonci<\/strong>, Regional Councillor for Economic Development, Research and Innovation and Investment Attraction, <strong>Chiara Cattelan<\/strong>, President of the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservators of the Province of Padua and <strong>Marco Favaretti<\/strong>, President of the Order of Engineers of the Province of Padua.<\/p>\n<h2>A PERMANENT PLACE FOR THE LIGHT CULTURE<\/h2>\n<p>The Light Design Village was created to interpret light not only as a technology, but also as a design language, a cultural tool and a social infrastructure. The goal is to become a diffusion place and point of reference for the culture of light, by connecting a large community and encouraging new skills, relationships and projects. The Village is aimed at all who operate and gravitate around the lighting world: companies, professionals, technicians, professional associations, schools and universities, artists, creatives, public administrations, press and citizens. An open and multidisciplinary network, designed to start a dialogue among production, research, training and culture.<\/p>\n<p>PHYSICAL SPACES AND DIGITAL SERVICES<\/p>\n<p>The Light Design Village is developed inside Villa C\u00e0 Marcello through environments intended for different ways of meeting and experimenting: a <strong>training area<\/strong>, a<strong> workshop<\/strong><strong> area<\/strong>, a <strong>materials library<\/strong>, a<strong> photometric laboratory<\/strong>, a <strong>lounge<\/strong>, a <strong>coworking area<\/strong>, a <strong>gallery <\/strong>and <strong>outdoor <\/strong>spaces. The physical dimension will be integrated by a <strong>&#8220;LIGHT PASS&#8221; digital platform<\/strong>, through which users will consult content, access the calendar, sign up for activities, book spaces and services and consult the digital materials library.<\/p>\n<p>The access system will be articulated through <strong>different Light Pass formulas<\/strong>, designed to support different participation and involvement levels within the community. The services also include on-demand content, a digital archive, a lighting designers database, dedicated newsletters and an annual technical report.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;TRANSPARENCIES&#8221;: THE 2026\/2027 PROGRAMMING<\/p>\n<p>During the Opening, the first <strong>annual program<\/strong> of the Village entitled <em>&#8220;<\/em><em><strong>Trasparenze<\/strong><\/em><em>&#8220;<\/em>, curated by <strong>the Artistic Director Silvia Codato<\/strong>, was also presented<em>.<\/em> Every year, the Light Design Village will explore a<strong> material element<\/strong>, associating it with a theme able to connect all cultural, educational and design activities. The first cycle, scheduled from September 2026 to July 2027, will be dedicated to <strong>glass<\/strong>, a material deeply linked to the Veneto region&#8217;s history and production skills. The theme <em>&#8220;Glass: origin, material and vision of light&#8221;<\/em> will accompany a calendar of events dedicated to the roots and contemporary scenarios of that material, studied in its relationship with tradition, innovation, design, sustainability and technologies.<\/p>\n<p>The activities will be divided into six thematic areas \u2014<strong> Light and Design<\/strong>, <strong>Light and Tradition<\/strong>, <strong>Light and Art<\/strong>, <strong>Light and Materials<\/strong>,<strong> Light and Society<\/strong>, <strong>Light and Technology<\/strong> \u2014 and will include <strong>talks<\/strong>, <strong>workshops<\/strong>, <strong>trainings<\/strong>, <strong>events <\/strong>and <strong>light <\/strong><strong>camps<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>calendar<\/strong> will include the involvement of designers, studios, researchers, companies and associations, with meetings dedicated to filtering materials, wine culture, scenic lighting design, evolution of LED technology, lighting of art and museum spaces, wellness lighting, sustainability and the relationship between light, darkness and society.<\/p>\n<p>Among the announced protagonists are <strong>LightScene Studio<\/strong>, <strong>Studio Piero Castiglioni<\/strong>, <strong>Luca De Bona<\/strong> and <strong>Dario De Meo<\/strong> of Studio <strong>Debonademeo<\/strong>, <strong>Luca Nichetto<\/strong>, along with numerous professionals, technical partners and industry associations.<\/p>\n<p>TRAINING, YOUNG PEOPLE AND COLLABORATION WITH COMPANIES<\/p>\n<p>A central role will be entrusted to training. The 2026\/2027 programming will see the start of the first <strong>Masterclass in Lighting Design<\/strong>, conceived by Luce in Veneto in partnership with <strong>SID \u2013 <\/strong><strong>Scuola Italiana Design<\/strong> in Padua and with the <strong>artistic direction<\/strong> of architect <strong>Paolo De Lucchi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The course will be dedicated to students, technicians and professionals and will aim to train designers able to interpret light not only as a technical parameter, but also as a design material to create atmosphere, behaviour, identity, relationship with space and product value.<\/p>\n<p>The Masterclass will combine visual culture, design, experimentation on materials, measurement, software, generative artificial intelligence and mock-up creation, for a <strong>total duration of 120 hours<\/strong>, supplemented by company visits.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside the Masterclass, the first Light Camp will also start, again in collaboration with SID. The format will involve selected companies, tutors and about 50-60 students in an intensive Design Thinking course aimed at developing new product solutions, restyling, communication and innovation, transforming the light culture into a tangible experience of shared design.<\/p>\n<p>THE LECTIO MAGISTRALIS BY MICHELE DE LUCCHI<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the Village presentation, the<strong> architect<\/strong> and <strong>designer Michele De Lucchi<\/strong> held the talk <em><strong>&#8220;Making light&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><em>,<\/em> offering a reflection on the relationship connecting light, technological innovation, design and lifestyle transformation. Through an articulated landscape of light sources and objects, the intervention explored the role of design in improving the quality of living and in accompanying, interpreting and anticipating the evolution of domestic and human space. The lamps were presented in their dual nature as luminous tools and design presences: objects able to dialogue with everyday life environments and maintaining, even when switched off, their own expressive energy.<\/p>\n<p>The Opening ended with a networking aperitif and a visit to the <strong>art installation <\/strong><em><strong>&#8220;LUCE&#8221;<\/strong><\/em> by <strong>Enrico Antonello<\/strong>, a journey in which light, movement and sound reflect on the relationship connecting man, technology and society.<\/p>\n<p>With the Light Design Village, Rete di Imprese Luce in Veneto gives rise to a permanent cultural infrastructure, open to the participation of new companies, professionals, institutions and realities interested in contributing to the development of the program.
