At Todos Santos Boutique Hotel, the Hortus line meets luxury hospitality

In Mexico, in the heart of Todos Santos, Baja California, where the desert meets the ocean and history intertwines with a new vision of hospitality, a project takes shape in which interior design, memory, craftsmanship, and botanical suggestion coexist in perfect balance.
It is here, within Todos Santos Boutique Hotel, that Il Bronzetto arrives with Hortus, its line of plant-inspired wall lights, bringing its vision of artisanal elegance to Mexico through the theme of Botanical Illusion.
Intimate and exclusive, Todos Santos Boutique Hotel is the result of the transformation of a historic building dating back to 1890, now reimagined as a charming ten-key boutique hotel with bar, restaurant, wine cellar, and pool area. The restyling project is by Oficina Sarmiento Legorreta, an interdisciplinary studio devoted to architectural development, interior design, and furniture design, renowned for its detail-oriented approach and its ability to create holistic, refined, and highly distinctive spaces. Designer Alejandra Sarmiento conceived an intervention capable of preserving the building’s historic character while guiding it toward a new idea of contemporary luxury. Each space becomes a narrative retreat, where past and present meet in an atmosphere that is cultured, sensual, and deeply immersive.
Within this setting, a natural dialogue emerges with Hortus, the new line by Il Bronzetto within the Eclectic collection by Brass Brothers & Co., a universe in which nature is the absolute protagonist. In the Eclectic collection, side tables and lamps draw inspiration from bamboo and rosehip stems, while owls, turtle shells, horns, snakes, and herons inhabit lamps and sconces that evoke exotic marshlands and dreamlike scenes suspended between flora and fauna. Brass, worked through a variety of techniques and often deliberately left with rough and irregular surfaces, reflects the imperfect uniqueness of natural elements. Sensuality, elegance, and an exotic sensibility define a collection capable of translating nature into unique and sophisticated objects. It is within this vision that Hortus, designed by Cecilia Pantaleo, finds its place. A cosmopolitan designer, born in Rome and later living in New York, London, and Hong Kong, Cecilia conceived the line from a very precise reflection: the way plants, even large ones, can bring a vital force to a space. From this came the idea of creating objects that could bring that same energy into interiors, without resorting to artificial plants and without literally imitating the botanical world, but instead translating it into a luminous, poetic, and decorative form. From this intuition came a collaboration with Il Bronzetto, and it is precisely in this harmony between creative vision and artisanal mastery that Hortus reaches its full expression. This is how the theme of Botanical Illusion is born: not a replica of nature, but its evocation. Not a realistic botanical element, but a presence that suggests life, movement, and atmosphere. The forms of Heliconia, Monstera, and Lemongrass become wall lights that resemble true luminous plants, bound by a signature brass spiral that recalls the tying of a bouquet of leaves and flowers. This precious and discreet detail defines the collection and perfectly synthesizes its spirit: natural and artificial, decorative and vital, sophisticated and organic. Craftsmanship is central to this narrative. The Hortus wall lights take shape from laser-cut iron leaves, hand-decorated and paired with wall plates and brass details. The result is a collection that combines technical precision with material sensitivity, transforming the language of foliage into a luminous, sculptural presence.
Within the Todos Santos Boutique Hotel project, Alejandra Sarmiento chose Heliconia precisely for its balance between decorative strength and restraint. This choice perfectly reveals the harmony between the hotel project and the language of Hortus: both work with the idea of an evoked nature, present yet never invasive, capable of bringing character and warmth to a space without weighing it down. Throughout Todos Santos Boutique Hotel, references to the territory are many: the colors of the desert return in the murals, the façade’s bricks, and the tones of the furnishings; natural materials dialogue with wood, metal, stone, and textiles. In sharp contrast with these warm and enveloping tones, brass accents emerge in handles, tables, and lighting fixtures. Within this dialogue of surfaces and reflections, the Hortus Heliconia wall light finds its ideal placement, integrating naturally into the hotel’s aesthetic narrative. With this collaboration, Il Bronzetto brings its craftsmanship to Baja California, helping define an idea of hospitality in which luxury is measured through the quality of details, the depth of storytelling, and the ability of objects to shape atmosphere. Hortus thus becomes far more than a lighting element: it is a decorative presence, a botanical gesture, a form of light that translates nature into emotion.
The Chosen Products
In Hortus, nature is not simply represented: it is interpreted through a patient, precise, artisanal gesture. Each leaf is cut, repoussé-worked, and hand-decorated, one by one. It is precisely at this stage that the metal acquires depth, nuance, and visual vibration, transforming from a technical surface into a botanical presence. Hand decoration is not meant to standardize, but rather to make each piece different, alive, and irreproducible. Just as in nature, no two leaves in Hortus are ever perfectly identical.
