4D Ceramics: Sapienstone brings technology and design to new dimensions
A world where the design of ceramic surfaces transcends limits thanks to 4D Ceramics. The evolution of ceramics reveals a new dimension, where the veins and their nuances extend continuously throughout its thickness in perfect harmony. The revolutionary 4D Ceramics technology, developed by Iris Ceramica Group, represents a significant advance over Full Body porcelain stoneware, both in technical and aesthetic terms. This evolution has allowed the beauty of Sapienstone designs to be combined with the most cutting-edge and sustainable technological advances of the moment, consolidating the brand as a point of reference in the evolution of ceramics.
Its innovation begins in the production process itself, using methodologies never explored before. Like metamorphic rocks, such as marble, which are formed over millions of years due to pressure, heat and tectonic forces, 4D surfaces undergo a similar metamorphosis: through a meticulous layering process with natural raw materials of the highest quality, the veining and shades unfold throughout the thickness (12 and 20 mm), giving shape to a material as solid and resistant as granite rock. This process generates an aesthetic effect of extraordinary continuity throughout its mass, ensuring that each 4D material contains a unique and unrepeatable story.
In this way, spaces reach new levels of originality, with surfaces that enhance the beauty of the veining and its nuances along the entire thickness of the material, creating an unprecedented visual continuity. The processing of the edges, enhanced by 4D Ceramics technology, opens an infinite range of possibilities where the meticulously crafted edges adapt perfectly to all types of decorative projects, allowing architects and interior designers to create unique and personalized spaces that highlight the final dimension of the product, from worktops to ceramic coverings.
H2 Factory® is a pioneering project developed by Iris Ceramica Group: a production plant built inside the Castellarano hub (Reggio Emilia) considering the highest design standards suitable for producing and storing green hydrogen using solar energy and rainwater. In July 2024, the first 4D ceramic surface of Sapienstone was produced using a mixture of green hydrogen and natural gas.
Sapienstone thus becomes the spokesperson for the Group’s technological innovation, bringing that vision into concrete proposals that inspire designers in the creation of support surfaces and decorative surfaces, such as tables, worktops, shelves and other decorative elements for the home and kitchen.
