The refurbishing of the property developer Somium in Alicante

3 November 2020

Luceplan as the lighting partner in Monica Armani project for Somium headquarters

Somium, the Spanish property developer part of the Marjal real estate group and active in the luxury field, recently commissioned Monica Armani completely to renovate their headquarters in Alicante. As part of a project foreseeing the whole spaces redefinition, light and acoustic comfort played a key role to obtain better usability. Luceplan has been selected as exclusive partner for the whole lighting, supplying both recessed solutions and sound-absorbing suspensions Diade and Silenzio, by Monica Armani. Inaugurated in June 2019, the new interior project of Somium headquarters in Alicante, signed in all details by Monica Armani, reflects a key thought of the designer: “I conceived the SOMIUM space as an elegant and multifunctional place featured by high acoustic comfort. I worked with screens, curtains and with Silenzio and Diade sound-absorbing lamps I designed for Luceplan, all “in-the-air” elements giving a strong character to the interior design”.

Luceplan was chosen as a lighting partner for the proven experience in “all-in-one” solutions, to provide accurate lighting and harmonizing all the aspects of the essential need for acoustic comfort in the work environments, especially focusing on the sharing-concept as a leitmotif of the entire interior design. Silenzio and Diade suspension lamps, both signed by the designer, are the protagonist of the supply.

Silenzio is a lamp made with a series of acoustic materials, combined with external top-end fabric, harmonized in an object having sophisticated design and high sound-absorbing properties. The metallic and robust structure supports an elegant cylinder covered in fabric featured by a texture with a Grisaglia-effect like an elegantly tailored jacket, for which Monica Armani selected 22 colours in grey, orange, green, blue, beige and lilac shades. The lamp combines a smooth external surface with a three-dimensional interior characterized by some slight curving to obtain a double effect: softly blending the light while breaking the sound waves. By absorbing the sound waves, Silenzio creates warm and comfortable environments, transversal in work, hospitality and commercial spaces. Silenzio project taps into the world of upholstered furniture to offer a wide range of customized options in a design dialogue with the world of interior design.

At the same time, Diade, placed in correspondence of the workstations, allows recreating a protect and quiet environment for the employees. Diade suspensions combine optimal lighting with high levels of acoustic comfort. The two panels in sound-absorbing material can be vertically or horizontally mounted to obtain a backdrop or a large ceiling. The two solutions provide unicum light, sound absorption and “ceiling” of the spaces, avoiding the typical false ceiling. The fabric upholstery, available in three colours, creates a particular and elegant couture-effect.
