Warm minimalism: a Japandi style kitchen with HIMACS

20 April 2026

A light touch, pleasing order and premium materials define this renovated kitchen in Glasgow

The warmth of natural oak combines with the purity of HIMACS solid surface in a minimalist design with a visual and functional serenity. This carefully considered and refined scheme was conceived to respond to everyday needs without sacrificing timeless elegance. Every element, from the bespoke furniture to the seamless surfaces, has been carefully selected to achieve a perfect balance between contemporary aesthetics and the highest quality of workmanship.

One of the most noteworthy aspects of this renovation project was the close collaboration with the owners, whose vision of the space fully coincided with the principles of design studio, KitCaboose Kitchen: the use of fine materials such as wood, a tranquil colour palette and the integration of durable surfaces. Thus, the kitchen was conceived with a minimalist approach, stripped of unnecessary features and meticulously designed to ensure lasting beauty, excellent functionality, and visual coherence. Natural oak adds texture and warmth to the cabinet fronts, while HIMACS, with its smooth, seamless finish, offers a hygienic, robust and aesthetically flawless surface solution.

The chosen shade, Alpine White, brings clarity without competing with other aspects of the design, enhancing the wood finishes and contributing to a bright yet calm atmosphere. The choice of HIMACS for three key elements (countertop, splashback and integrated sink) responds to both the technical and the aesthetic criteria of the project. Its durability, easy maintenance and the ability to remove marks by polishing make it a highly versatile material for intensively used spaces. In addition, its wide range of colours makes it easy to integrate with different finishes and styles. In this case, Alpine White offers an ideal harmony of sobriety and elegance.

The success of this renovation is also the result of meticulous pre-installation planning. Thanks to precision in design and fabrication any potential difficulties during installation were avoided. This rigorous approach meant the refurbishment ran smoothly and the highest standards in both aesthetics and practicality could be assured. This kitchen is, in short, a clear example of how creative collaboration, meticulous attention to detail and the choice of high-quality materials can transform an everyday room into a functional, welcoming environment with a character all of its own.

The Glasgow project is one of a series of kitchens where the studio has opted for HIMACS as the primary surface, consolidating the material’s position as the ideal choice for homes that demand both technical excellence and gracefully enduring design.
