For the first time, gedatec, a new trade fair dedicated to smart building technologies, will be held from 13 to 15 October 2026 at the Berlin exhibition grounds
As an evolution of belektro, it will host exhibitors from the three main sectors: electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning (HVAC) engineering and roofing, on a larger exhibition area.
Gedatec is the new industry platform for network technologies in buildings in Berlin and Brandenburg. The focus is on technologies that make buildings more efficient, interconnected and environmentally friendly.
“With gedatec, we create a meeting place for the industry that reflects the reality of modern buildings. The technology no longer works in isolation, divided into individual professional solutions, but only through the interaction between electrical systems, air conditioning and roofing,” explains Ruth Senitz, project manager at gedatec/belektro.
What has long been common practice on construction sites is now also visible at trade fairs: planning, energy, building envelope, and technology are all interconnected. GEDATEC offers a common forum for products, exchanges and cooperation, acting as an interface between industry, commerce, politics and consultancy.
With six halls, in 2026, the fair will grow significantly. While the electricity sector will continue to be the main reference point in three halls, this year, for the first time, two halls will be dedicated to plumbing, heating and air conditioning (PHVAC) systems and one to the roofing sector. “The number of registrations exceeds already the final level of belektro 2024. This shows that our concept is convincing the market and effectively reaching the industry,” says Ruth Senitz.
Belektro already covers a wide spectrum of modern building technologies, from electrical engineering and lighting to heating, air conditioning and ventilation technology, as well as renewable energies, building automation and digital design. This thematic diversity will now be further expanded and integrated more closely with new exhibitors from the PHVAC and roofing sectors.
A key element of Gedatec will be the support programme, which includes panel discussions, lectures and practical activities. It addresses current industry issues, including climate change, digitalisation, the search for skilled labour, and new regulatory requirements.
Another essential objective remains training, to inspire young talents in the electrical sector and support companies in the search for qualified personnel. To this end, Gedatec offers a comprehensive program for the next generation of industry professionals. These offers combine specialist knowledge and practical experience, demonstrating the diversity of modern craft professions.
