Regis Red Sea Resort: an oasis with state-of-the-art architecture

Home automation solutions for a system customisation perfectly balancing aesthetics, technology and sustainability

The first private island, inaugurated in the Red Sea as a luxury tourist destination, is located in the Al Wajh lagoon and reachable only by boat or seaplane. The island of Ummah is an oasis with cutting-edge architecture. Here is the St. Regis Red Sea Resort, belonging to the prestigious chain of the Marriott group, an eco-conscious island, which includes 90 beachfront villas, each with a private pool, solarium and outdoor shower.

Designed by architect Kengo Kuma, with interiors by Kristina Zanic Consultant, the structure design recalls the coral reef, marine flora and fauna, and the surrounding dunes. To minimise the use of concrete, the structures are made in prefabricated wood, with natural cedar shingle roofs, and walls finished with clay plaster. The building’s curves perfectly blend with the landscape. In particular, the Dune Villas reflect the shape of the desert mounds, while the Coral Villas, built on stilts over the water – connected by walkways with direct access to the sea – recall the features of a shell. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the living spaces with natural light, characterised by soft curved furnishings, spiral shapes, a colour palette inspired by the desert, and enriched by blue and green tones, recalling the local flora. Five restaurants offer exclusive beachside dining and serve specialities from local farms and fishermen.

In this exclusive context, Vimar fits in with the Eikon Exé wiring accessories series in metal, with home automation controls.

A plate with essential square lines. A perfect synthesis of technological precision and craftsmanship, available in different materials and prestigious finishes, from stone to metal and glass, capable of perfectly integrating into any environment, and creating an original atmosphere. With over 200 functions of the international product standards, Eikon Exé offers several solutions for the system customisation, perfectly balancing aesthetics, technology and sustainability.

The choice to use innovative technologies to create a sustainable destination was evident from the early stages of the structure’s development. Awarded LEED Platinum certification, the St. Regis Red Sea Resort is completely powered by renewable sources, guarantees an advanced water treatment system, and comprehensive waste management.

Preserving the precious natural environment of the island. That is the main target at the basis of the project idea, in line with Vimar’s positive energy vision for sustainable development.
