Overlooking the sea, among the Romito jagged cliffs, stands Castel Sonnino, majestic and solemn like an ancient coast custodian. Located a few kilometres from Livorno, and the charming hamlet of Quercianella, Italy, the neo-medieval style building enchants with its panoramic position, and the charm of its walls that tell of historical centuries.
Its origins date back to the sixteenth century, when the Medici family built a fortress to protect the Riviera from pirate raids. In the eighteenth century, from a simple watchtower, it was transformed into a fortified castle, and, only at the end of the nineteenth century, it became the private summer residence of Baron Sidney Sonnino, at that time Treasury Minister of the Italian Kingdom, whose name it retains. Today, after a careful, conservative restoration completed in 2025 by the Tono Architettura & Interior Design studio at the behest of the Pucciarini family itself, Castel Sonnino continues to tell its story, keeping its distinguishing charm unchanged. Each space is designed to combine the majesty of the past with the functionality of the present, making it perfect for special events.
Between the expressiveness of natural materials and the furnishings’ warm tones and delicacy, Vimar technology fits in with the Eikon Exé and Linea series.
A perfect synthesis of technological precision and craftsmanship, available in different materials and prestigious finishes, from stone to metal and glass, to perfectly integrate into any environment, and create an original soul. In this magical context, Eikon Exé has been chosen in the traditional version, with a brushed dark bronze finish and anthracite grey controls. Thin profiles, square corners for a plate that is pure essence of form and matter. The installed devices are perfectly visible and arranged in a tidy shape on the elegant headboards of the upholstered fabric beds, on the bathroom boiserie, and in all common areas. A classic and defined geometry, in harmony with the residence’s austere and noble architecture. On the lower floor with respect to the noble hall, with direct access to the outdoor garden, in a service wing, there is a large, equipped for events, stainless-steel kitchen.
And between the whiteness of the plastered walls and the metallic furnishings, the minimalism of the Linea series harmonises – in the white version with black axial controls with precise operation – thanks to a patented technology, which highlights at best the perfect flatness between keys and surface.
