Agave, design by García Cumini
The Agave suspension lamp, designed by García Cumini for Barovier&Toso, pays homage to the beauty and symbolism of the plant from which it takes its name. With its distinctive shape and modular structure, Agave reinterprets the elegance and resilience of the Mediterranean plant, renowned for its rare and precious flowering.
This project celebrates the tradition of Venetian sheet glass through its iconic elongated leaves, enhanced by a “rugiada” (dewdrop) texture — a historical technique—and refined decorative gradients that lend the surface an irregular and dynamic quality. The interplay of light and shadow created as light passes through the glass evokes the magic of sunlight filtering through agave leaves, transforming illumination into a poetic experience.
Agave embodies a perfect balance between tradition and innovation, exploring new expressive possibilities to pay tribute to nature and the emotions it can evoke, while simultaneously highlighting the artisanal excellence of Barovier&Toso.
