In the market for kitchen countertops, tables and peninsulas, now the trend is increasingly oriented towards thin and high-performance materials, in particular high-tech ceramics (stoneware). Traditional solutions include single legs in metal, aluminium or other materials, mechanically fixed under the peninsula top to single support points. These systems, although functional, require support at the top, in different materials, to ensure adequate guarantees of resistance and stability.
Thanks to Artigiana Marmi’s know-how, an Italian company among the leaders in ceramics, quartz and natural marbles transformation, was born MATALAB, the brand that designed and patented ART HIKI. That is an innovative and structurally advanced system for cantilevered peninsulas and stoneware tables, perfectly integrated with the kitchen environment. With ART HIKI, it is possible to design custom-made peninsulas and tables, with a maximum size that was not on the market until recently, using 12 or 20 mm stoneware thickness, with certifiable safety performance.
The heart of the system is a custom-designed, custom-made fitting completed by metal bars that allow the formation of a frame, thus creating a single, solid and safe structural body. From a technical point of view, the invention refers to a support for the support surface, where a complex and precise geometry guarantees stability:
That specific configuration gives the system extreme design flexibility, allowing for supporting peninsula tops, upon the customer’s request, without any size constraints, up to the maximum size available on the market, ensuring full compliance with current regulations.
In this integrated solution, the leg is part of the support and fixed by welding.
In addition to the mechanical solidity and certifiability of the solution, the ART HIKI system guarantees key advantages for contemporary design:
MATALAB is a project strongly rooted in the territory. The whole production takes place within a radius of 100 km from the headquarters, involving selected partners based in the Marche Region. A short supply chain that simplifies logistics, guarantees operational responsiveness and strengthens quality control at every stage. A close supply chain is indeed an extra value.
MATALAB by Artigiana Marmi will present its conceptions to its main customers who exhibit at Eurocucina 2026 and in the Fuori Salone.
