Signify brings professional lighting to temporary installations

On the occasion of the Hopman Cup 2025, Signify illuminated two tennis courts in Bari, delivering high-quality lighting for athletes on court and engaging entertainment for audiences both in the stands and at home.

A concrete example of this type of application is the installation carried out by Signify for the Hopman Cup, the prestigious international tennis tournament founded in 1988 in honour of Harry Hopman, which took place in Bari at the evocative Fiera del Levante venue. For the event, Signify designed and delivered the temporary lighting of two tennis courts, providing state-of-the-art systems engineered to meet high broadcast standards, enable dynamic light intensity control and create striking lighting effects. The result was a unique experience for both spectators on site and audiences watching from home.

Specifically, Signify installed 40 ArenaVision Gen 3.5 floodlights, distributed across the two tennis courts (24 on the main court and 16 on the secondary court). These LED floodlights, specifically designed for sports and multi-purpose venues, ensure high-quality light output, effective thermal management and long lifetime, while fully complying with the latest broadcast standards. In this way, Signify technology enables both on-site spectators and TV audiences to enjoy international competition with maximum visual quality.
The LED lighting system was further enhanced through the use of a DMX Driver, allowing console-based control by the Hopman Cup technical service team. This solution made it possible to precisely adjust light intensity, ensuring optimal visual comfort for athletes and spectators even with relatively low lighting mast heights. In addition, Signify’s intervention enabled the creation of spectacular light shows synchronised with music, delivering an even more engaging entertainment experience for the audience.
Beyond ensuring highly flexible solutions and an excellent visual experience for the public, temporary projects such as the Hopman Cup also allow Signify to further strengthen its commitment to sustainability. The very nature of these installations enables the design of reusable lighting systems that are easy to dismantle and redeploy in different contexts, reducing waste and resource consumption. As a result, the solutions adopted do not reach the end of their life cycle when the event concludes, but are instead reintegrated into new projects, actively contributing to a circular economy model in line with the Brighter Lives, Better World 2030 programme recently announced by Signify CEO As Tempelman.
