Girouette 2025, light bright sculptures

3 June 2025

Design Pierre Gonalons

Constantly looking for a balance between simple intuition and scenography effect, guided on the one hand by the geometric approach to shapes and on the other by the reinterpretation of an aesthetic inspired by the decorative arts of the twentieth century, Gonalons sets essential golden pyrex globes in a cross of thin square-cut sheets. A poetic, dynamic game, inspired by the aesthetic culture of the 50s designer Max Ingrand, known for his mastery of combining glass and metal, between geometric lines and precious materials.

“Girouette” is born, a collection of suspension lamps and wall lamps by Masiero, in which the metal structure with its four cardinal points that play with the globe recalls this object, which is so simple yet so full of meaning. The sophisticated intersection of thin, square, raw-cut metal plates radiates around each luminous globe. In the multiple suspensions, the golden sheets, bent like a delicate origami and welded at two ends, bind the luminous bodies in a linear continuum of 3 or 6 elements or metaphorical floating round pinwheels of 6, 12, 18 or 36 elements, ensuring a result with a high aesthetic potential. The metal profile has a very particular satin texture, is deliberately not uniform, referencing Italian retrò style manufacture. Expertly obtained exclusively by Masiero by performing a cross-satin finish, with strip sanding, before immersing each slab in a gold galvanic bath and painting it.

Light luminous sculptures to enhance a dining table or enrich a main entrance, creating a slightly retrò atmosphere.

Materials:

Light fixtures structure: metal sheets with a satin finish made with strip polishes, nickel-plated in a gold galvanic bath and then painted.

Sphere in gradient dichroic gold borosilicate.

Metal frame, integrated LED source.
