The European Event on the Digital and Energy Twin Transition of Buildings and Cities
SBE is the only European event dedicated to the digital and energy twin transition of buildings and cities. An initiative that, since 2016, has brought together the best of innovation in a single platform. Unique in its kind, the event focuses on digitisation, energy efficiency, electrification and building automation, central themes where the most advanced solutions come to life, favouring the creation of strategic partnerships and concrete business opportunities.
From 19 to 21 November, four events, GEE–Global Elevator Exhibition, ME-MADE expo, SMART BUILDING EXPO and SICUREZZA lived together, creating a single event scheduled for November at Fiera Milano. SMART BUILDING EXPO offered multiple opportunities to enrich oneself with knowledge, acquire tools for evaluating market trends, learn from the best experiences and understand every facet of the technological solutions currently available.
ASSIL has created at Pad. 6 SMART LIGHTING, a collective area dedicated to the world of lighting technology.
Through this synergy, attention was paid to the contribution that lighting technology can give to home and building automation and energy saving in buildings and urban areas. The focus on alternative energy and the sustainable city was fully part of the SMART BUILDING EXPO’s vision, which finds its natural place within MIBA – Milan International Building Alliance, the Fiera Milano format that focuses on sustainable, efficient and safe buildings. ASSIL was thus present at the fair, coordinating an area dedicated to the world of lighting technology, and taking part in a rich agenda of thematic panels, inspirational keynotes, interviews and networking, divided into three thematic days.
“Promoting a real culture of light is one of the essential aspects carried out by our association. Therefore, being present at this edition of SMART BUILDING EXPO was crucial to interpret the challenges of energy and digital transition. A valuable opportunity for discussion and vision, where companies, institutions and innovators can build together the sustainable future of lighting,” explained Carlo Comandini, President of ASSIL.
Six selected partners attended the SMART LIGHTING area: Inventronics, Ledvance, Qualitron, Sylvania, Tridonic and Zumtobel.
“Our presence at SMART BUILDING EXPO”, says Piero Ceccato, Managing Director of LEDVANCE Italia, “stems from the desire to share the central role that lighting can play in home and building automation, as well as in the path towards energy saving and sustainability of buildings and urban areas. Participating within the collective area of ASSIL has allowed us to further enhance the sector strength and show how light, today, is no longer just a primary function, but an intelligent, connected and integrated element, able to dialogue with other technologies to improve efficiency, safety and comfort of places. On the occasion of this important event, we presented our Direct Easy system, a solution that makes it possible to integrate intelligent light adjustment even in existing buildings, supporting efficiency interventions without requiring any specific preparation. SMART BUILDING EXPO represented a moment of essential discussion and innovation, in a phase of technological transition that looks at digitisation and green orientation as a development driver.”
Inventronics is one of the world leaders in LED systems for B2B applications, one of the protagonists at the Smart Building Expo 2025 in Milan. After the acquisition of OSRAM’s Digital Systems division,” explains Giovanni Scilla, CEO of Inventronics, “the company has expanded its proposal with advanced connectivity solutions for general lighting in several application sectors: architectural, commercial, industrial, street, hospitality and retail. With the most comprehensive range of wired and wireless LED drivers and control systems, Inventronics is the ideal partner for manufacturers, system integrators and designers. Our mission is to support customers with cutting-edge, reliable and scalable solutions that meet the needs of a constantly evolving market, by offering highly efficient and safe innovative components, and sharing our vision of an increasingly connected and sustainable future”.
“Qualitron is an Italian company specialised in power supplies and lighting components production, with a strong innovative vocation. Thanks to the internal engineering department, it can develop custom solutions and high-tech products, rapidly manufactured at the Italian plant. The quality is DEKRA certified, while the development is guaranteed by a DALI-accredited laboratory and complies with ISO 900x standards. A production site in Eastern Europe ensures competitive costs for large series, allowing Qualitron to compete successfully with Asian players. Today, the company exports over 60% of its turnover to Europe and the world, consolidating its international position. Participation in Smart Building Expo, in the Smartlighting area,” concludes Piero Magnaghi – Owner of Qualitron, “marks a further step in the growth strategy, with the launch of new Smart solutions dedicated to a rapidly expanding sector full of future opportunities.”
With over a century of experience, Sylvania Group confirms itself as one of the leading global players in the lighting and digital solutions sector. Active in 40 countries and present in 50 markets across EMEA, LATAM and Asia, the company offers a complete portfolio for consumer and professional customers.
With 1,100 employees, plants and research centres in Europe and HQ in Budapest, Sylvania focuses on efficiency, sustainability and well-being, going beyond light. Our mission is to combine technology and creativity to improve energy efficiency, sustainability, digitalisation and well-being. “This vision takes shape with SylSmart Connected, the system that makes buildings smart, efficient and comfortable places, reducing consumption by up to 65% thanks to wireless controls based on Bluetooth mesh network. The evolution is SylSmart Connected Pro, which transforms data into a strategic optimisation tool. This year, thanks to our participation in the ASSIL booth, we presented our innovative solutions during MIBA–Smart Building Expo, confirming our commitment to innovation for smart buildings,” says Francesco De Vivo, Country Manager (Italy).
“Light is our language for building the future: smart, connected and sustainable. Smart Building Expo was the ideal stage to show how technological innovation can transform spaces into digital ecosystems able to evolve and improve the users’ quality of life,” Marco Carpanese, Managing Director, was keen to emphasise. “Tridonic can turn light into value, making buildings more efficient, safer, and more sustainable. We imagine a world where every space reacts, learns and adapts. Our strategy is based on integrated solutions that communicate with BMS, reduce consumption and optimise resources, responding to current and future needs. We offer a complete ecosystem of solutions dedicated to professional lighting, with wired, wireless or hybrid technologies and predictive tools such as lumDATA and lifetimeINDICATOR. At Smart Building Expo, we presented innovative solutions to accelerate the transition to smarter and more sustainable cities.
“Light control is now an integral part of every lighting solution and is becoming increasingly important in response to the growing demand for services and performance,” concluded Ing. Francesco Longo, Head of service and solution Zumtobel Group Italia. “It is no longer just a matter of ensuring the correct lighting, but of managing light as a strategic resource, able to integrate technology, architecture and sustainability, while generating comfort and well-being for people. Managing light intelligently means going beyond lighting: it means building environments that consume less energy, reducing the environmental impact and, at the same time, improving the experience of those who live and work in those places. With the Zumtobel Smart Building Solution, control becomes an essential key to both the sustainability of buildings and the well-being of people. Our focus also extends to urban areas through control systems for outdoor lighting. The Thorn Smart City universe represents our commitment to providing smart lighting solutions that integrate connectivity and technology to make cities more efficient, safe and welcoming. In terms of safety, our proposal is completed with lamps for emergency lighting and centralised power supply systems that guarantee continuity of service and control. In case of need, the light becomes immediate, reliable and guides people towards escape routes. So, spaces are not only sustainable and comfortable, but become places where to really feel protected.”
