The Antesia by Masiero collection of mouth-blown glass pendant lights draws inspiration from the expressive nature of glass and its capacity to take on extraordinarily captivating and unusual forms, as well as from the study of the evolution of form, vibrant and incandescent. Like a sequence of still frames, four moments in the process of shaping the glass material have been captured and transformed into four distinct, poetic pendant lights. From the fluid state of the “pea” – the mass of molten glass on the blowpipe before blowing – four moments of the art of glassblowing by Venetian master glassmakers have been captured, giving rise to four distinct pendant lamps, each of which seems to contain all the phases of the previous one, like moments in a temporal sequence of the same object in constant evolution.
The name Antesia was chosen because, evoking the moment of flowering in botany, it expresses the stages in which the glass seems to “bloom” until it becomes a complete form. Its development, shaped by an ancient Venetian art, takes on a marvellous form over time.
Antesia – Stella and Giovanni Battista Gianola's design – comes in four organic forms that share the same DNA: starting from the smallest form (as if it were a bud protected by its calyx), two intermediate stages of growth develop, of different sizes, leading to the final form, characterised by a concavity reminiscent of the entire corolla's full opening. Its sinuous, soft, feminine forms, masterfully crafted by extraordinary artisans whose roots lie in historic traditions, reveal the delicacy of ancient artistic techniques that today give rise to elegant contemporary objects. The colours of the special glass are light and delicate, varying according to the Antesia model, and allow light to flow freely and diffusely, making it softer and more delicate along the contours.
The smallest version features a body in transparent acid-etched pressed glass. The two intermediate variants, of different sizes, include the smaller form, which is housed within blown glass diffusers available in transparent crystal, light amber or transparent smoked. The final form is characterised by a blown glass bubble with a light amber-coloured transparent shell, shaded to white. The dome-shaped structure supporting the various forms is made of metal with a polished earth-coloured galvanised finish.
Antesia is a fluid design that lends itself to creating lighting schemes in both the hospitality and residential sectors, whether with a minimalist allure or a lived-in look.
Each lamp in the Antesia collection is designed to cast its own soft light in any setting, but also to interact with its own variations, thus creating rich compositions that can freely expand to suit any environment, from the smallest to the largest.
