Promoted by ASSIL and CEI, the event deals with the technological and regulatory transformation of Italian sports facilities.
Great interest in the Verona stage of “We Light The Sport”, the ASSIL project that accompanies the sector towards technological innovation and new standards for the homologation of sports fields. Over 100 participants, including technicians, designers, representatives of institutions, and professionals, gathered at the Confindustria Verona headquarters for the new stage of “We Light The Sport”. The event, promoted by ASSIL and CEI, confirmed the strong interest in the technological and regulatory transformation that is affecting Italian sports facilities.
The initiative comes at a crucial time for the sector, driven by the transition to LED efficiency and a radical evolution of the national and international regulatory framework. “Sports lighting is no longer a simple functional element, but a determining factor for athletic performance, safety and the experience of the public,” said Carlo Comandini, President of ASSIL, during his opening speech.
The morning opened with institutional greetings from Pierluigi Magnante (Confindustria Verona Deputy General Manager), Comandini himself, Tommaso Ferrari, Verona Municipality Councillor for Ecological Transition and CONI Veneto President Dino Ponchio.
Three key pillars emerged at the heart of the debate:
Innovation and Sustainability: the adoption of smart technologies for consumption optimisation and light pollution reduction.
Financial Instruments: the speeches of Giuseppe Pagani (Institute for Sports and Cultural Credit) and Enrica Cottatellucci (GSE) illustrated the financing opportunities and the support mechanisms for the facilities’ energy redevelopment.
Regulations and Homologation: a significant part of the event was dedicated to the new validation procedures of sports fields, a complex process that sees the collaboration of bodies such as CONI, UNI and Sport e Salute.
The event culminated in a round table moderated by Fabio Passoni (Sport&Impianti Publisher), which saw the discussion among manufacturers, operators and technical bodies, including representatives of IMQ, AIS (Italian Plants Association), Magis Group and Federesco.
The shared goal is to create a “technical compass” for professionals, ensuring that the technological quality of Italian companies, which represent over 68% of the sector's turnover in Italy with about 2.1 billion euros, is the engine for the renewal of national plants in view of future challenges. After the success in Verona and the first stage in Milan, the “We Light The Sport” events cycle continues its itinerant journey to raise awareness among technicians and public administration on the importance of quality light in the world of sport, on May 26th in Rome.
