A training course held in four Italian cities, that involved hundreds of operators and relaunched the centrality of safety in emergency lighting systems

The last stop in Naples ended, with great participation and satisfaction, the Roadshow “Let’s shed light on the Emergency”, the initiative promoted by ASSIL (National Association of Lighting Manufacturers) in collaboration with CEI – Italian Electrotechnical Committee, and with the support of UNI, the Fire Brigade and the Professional Associations of engineers and industrial experts.

The tour traversed Italy, from Bologna to Milan and from Rome to Naples, providing up-to-date technical and regulatory tools on the design, management, and maintenance of emergency lighting—a crucial issue for the safety of people inside public and private buildings.

“Light is a precious ally when the safety of citizens is at stake,” said Carlo Comandini, President of ASSIL. “With this roadshow, we wanted to turn the spotlight on the importance of reliable, properly installed and maintained systems to ensure safe evacuations in the event of an emergency.”

The initiative in numbers:

• Over 500 participants, of which technicians, designers, installers, public administrations and safety managers
• Over 30 speakers, of which regulatory experts, representatives of institutions and leading companies
• 4 training sessions with a focus on legislation, practical cases and technological innovations

The Visual Guide on emergency lighting, written by LightingEurope with the contribution of ASSIL’s Italian experts, was presented and distributed at each stage. The guide is a fundamental operational tool in ascertaining the application of the EN 1838 (design) and EN 50172 (maintenance and control) standards, highly appreciated by participants for the tangible and visual approach. The initiative’s success was made possible by the collaboration with high-profile institutional and technical actors. In particular, the Fire Brigade contributed with clear and timely interventions on the requirements for emergency lighting in high-risk contexts. The Professional Associations‘ contribution, supporting the educational value of the initiative in the path of continuous members’ updating, was also fundamental.
