Assil turns the spotlight on the future of sports lighting
The Association has launched a cycle of three itinerant events to guide the sector on technological innovation, sustainability and the new homologation regulatory challenges. After the first step in Milan, the stages continue in April in Verona, and in June in Rome.
ASSIL (Associazione Nazionale Produttori Illuminazione), federated ANIE Confindustria, has announced the launch of “We Light The Sport“, an ambitious project to promote and raise awareness among the public and the sector’s technicians, dedicated to sport facilities lighting. The initiative comes at a time of sectoral intense dynamism, driven by the transition to high LED efficiency and a radical transformation of the national and international regulatory framework. Now, the approach to light in sports is no longer standardised. It requires a functional and peculiar design that closely integrates with the additional requirements and recommendations established by sports bodies, such as CONI and Federations. This complexity culminates in the testing and homologation process, with the Italian legislation in full development, which involves sports bodies to define rigorous standards for the validation and homologation of sports fields.
The initiative aims to debate challenges and opportunities that await the Italian sector, and to promote the adoption of advanced lighting technologies.
“Sports lighting is undergoing an unprecedented transformation. Light is no longer a simple functional element, but an influential factor for athletic performance, safety and public experience,” says Carlo Comandini, President of ASSIL. “With ‘We Light The Sport’, we want to offer a technical and regulatory compass to orient among new homologation requirements and opportunities of smart integration. Our goal is to network with institutions and designers to ensure that our companies’ technological quality is definitely moving towards the renewal and energy transition of Italian plants, ready for future challenges.”
Crucial issues, such as smart integration for consumption optimisation, light pollution reduction, athletes’ visual comfort, 4K television footage, and validation and homologation of national standards of sports fields analysis – in collaboration with CONI, UNI and Sport e Salute – will represent the debate heart.
