The soft light reflected by the gentle hills of Gaiole in Chianti, covered with oaks and chestnut trees, embraces an ancient Tuscan farmhouse resting on an isolated hill, with views stretching all the way to the Crete Senesi. It is in this setting that the renovation project by Studio G+ Architetti takes shape: a refined dialogue between rural architecture and contemporary sensibility. From the very first glance, light—the same light that captivated Susie and John, a couple from Santa Barbara who arrived in Tuscany to begin a new chapter of their lives—became the guiding thread of the entire intervention. Architects Giuseppe Aresu and Giuseppe Argiolas reinterpreted it through the use of natural and local materials, restoring to the interiors an authentic character rooted in the landscape and in the personal memories of the homeowners.
The aim of the project was to create a space in harmony with its surroundings, updated to meet the needs of contemporary living yet faithful to the farmhouse’s original spirit. Every detail— from the proportions of the rooms to the choice of finishes—was custom-designed and crafted, thanks also to the lively involvement of Susie, a painter and interior design enthusiast who approached the world of Tuscan craftsmanship with genuine curiosity.
The brass details, featured prominently in many of the images accompanying this story, embody the constant dialogue between material and light: thanks to Il Bronzetto Firenze, handles, faucets, frames, and inlays reflect warm golden highlights that shift throughout the day bringing into the home the same luminous vibration that animates the surrounding landscape. The estate, located around La Corbina, includes an 18th-century farmhouse and a recently built dependance, for a total surface of approximately 335 square meters, along with a 100square-meter swimming pool nestled in six hectares of land with vineyards and olive groves.
A project that brings together architectural rigor and the allure of Tuscan light, artisanal attention to detail, and the ability to transform a personal dream into a place of harmony and timeless beauty.
