ABB Ability™ BuildingPro connects building intelligence with the Samsung SmartThings Pro enterprise IoT ecosystem. The BuildingPro Edge integration covers field-level protocols such as BACnet, KNX, ModBus, and energy metering systems, while BuildingPro Suites provides a secure connection to the cloud.
ABB and Samsung Electronics have announced a new integration between ABB Ability™ BuildingPro and Samsung SmartThings Pro, building on their existing collaboration. This integration allows building owners and operators to access data, insights, and controls through a more connected environment. Building owners and operators manage increasingly complex real estate portfolios, while facing increasing pressure to improve efficiency and meet sustainability goals. ABB and Samsung are directly responding to this challenge by connecting their respective building intelligence and enterprise IoT platforms, offering greater visibility into building performance through a familiar digital environment.
ABB Ability BuildingPro™ connects devices and data between building systems, enabling operational analytics and insights through ABB Ability™ BuildingPro Suites. Samsung SmartThings Pro integrates these features into the Samsung ecosystem through a secure cloud-to-cloud connection, allowing data sharing between both platforms.
“Building owners need a reliable database and tools that make it easier to manage increasingly complex real estate portfolios,” said Mike Mustapha, Division President of the Smart Buildings Division at ABB Electrification. “By integrating ABB Ability™ BuildingPro with Samsung SmartThings Pro, we are helping owners and operators access the insights they need to make more informed decisions about their buildings.”
“Samsung SmartThings Pro provides enterprise customers with a familiar platform to manage and enhance buildings and assets,” said Chan-Woo Park, Executive Vice President of the Device eXperience Division at Samsung Electronics. “Together with ABB Ability™ BuildingPro, customers can access building information and controls through a connected experience that simplifies day-to-day management.”
Together, ABB Ability™ BuildingPro and Samsung SmartThings Pro provide operators with a unified view of lighting, air conditioning, shading and access control systems, along with energy monitoring and presence data.
With ABB Ability™ BuildingPro Suites, operators can access operational analytics and insights to improve building performance management, whether in offices, retail stores or large retail facilities. The integration between ABB Ability™ BuildingPro and Samsung SmartThings Pro will be rolled out during 2026 at three pilot sites: Samsung’s Business Experience Centre in Eschborn, Germany, Samsung’s Training Centre in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and ABB’s headquarters in Middelfart, Denmark. These sites will demonstrate how integration can support energy efficiency, building performance and user experience in real-world settings.
ABB and Samsung are laying the groundwork for a new generation of commercial buildings, where operations and user experience are no longer separate systems, but part of a single, connected experience.
