Arké, between tradition and contemporaneity

21 February 2022

In the Apulian (Italy) country, a traditional stone farmhouse has transformed into a New York manager’s retreat. The client’s need was to have a place to relax in, in contact with nature, to enjoy the sea, the food and the “slow” life of the Apulian countryside, periodically escaping from the metropolis stressful life.

The project, by architect Nicola Isetta, was conceived with deep integration between external and internal space, favouring summer life in nature and relaxation away from the working stress. The recently built part hosts the living area, and in the original renovated one is the sleeping area. Designed as a single open space, the living space has a fully openable window on the veranda overlooking the pool. During the warm season, the external and internal space can be enjoyed, without any interruption, to ease outdoor life and integrate with the surrounding countryside. Inside the recovered existing structure are the main bedroom with a dedicated bathroom, a guest room with independent access and bathroom, a third bathroom, and a third “extra” bedroom obtained from the recovery of the Palmento room for the wine pressing.

The choices of furnishings and materials are minimal: the traditional whitewashed lime plaster for the walls, Apricena stone for the external flooring and smooth concrete for the internal ones. This mood is also in the choice of control devices of the electrical system. The contemporary design of the Vimar Arké civil series stands out among the internal walls. In the Classic version, with its efficient geometry, linear profile and sharp corners, this series strips itself of any decoration as an end in itself, defining a new model of energy. The material chosen in this case is metal with a total look Polar finish, worked with attention to the finishes typical of Vimar’s unmistakable style and treated with eco-friendly procedures.

Besides their design, Vimar devices allow precise control, lighting and electricity management in all spaces while ensuring functionality and comfort. A wide range of controls and sockets responds to every functional need; for example, under the vaulted ceilings to distinguish the common areas, in the bedrooms and bathrooms.

In any space, a Vimar device is ready to provide fast and safe access to electricity, in the name of made in Italy design and technology.
