A journey through innovation, sustainability and the culture of light
From the Partner Summit in Eindhoven, passing through EuroShop and Light + Building, up to the Italian appointments of the “WE LIGHT THE SPORT” project, the dialog with Signify Italia tells the evolution of lighting amid connected systems, sustainability, retail experience, street lighting, custom design and new partnerships.
These were the main stages of the meeting with the Signify Italia team in the period last quarter 2025 – first half 2026.
In October 2025, Signify brought together more than one hundred system integrators and certified designers from all over Europe in Eindhoven. Two days dedicated to the future of lighting and innovation, including masterclasses, marketplaces, networking and discussion. The event confirmed the strength of the partner ecosystem and the shared vision of the group.
Alessandro Zucchi, Lighting Design and Specification Sales Manager, explains: “This is an event dedicated to our partners, understood as those who accompany us in our daily working lives. It is a way to keep a two-way communication channel open: we tell them about the news we are proposing on the market, but what interested us most was their concrete feedback. In each session, we asked what they found particularly interesting and what their priorities were for improving the products, to develop solutions in line with their expectations.”
The Summit combined vertical expertise, innovation, networking and awarding the best performing partners. The exhibition space was divided into islands dedicated to the main application fields — Smart City, sport, industry, retail, health and wellness — and to the technologies developed by the group, including Signify myCreation, NatureConnect, Color Kinetics and Dynalite, which can be managed through Digital Tools.
These are three levels of interpretation of the Signify ecosystem, aimed at addressing key objectives, as Zucchi sums up again: “Increasingly sustainable production, from the location of production sites to the carbon neutrality of plants to the recyclability of products, has always been one of the key elements. Connected light has been a plus for us since the beginning: we were among the pioneers, and still today we offer it in 100% of the projects we follow. One of the main drivers of innovation is the development of the system that contains the product, rather than considering the product itself: efficiency, integrability and availability of the data recorded by the devices”.
The projects’ custom-component represents one of the main added values with which the group presents itself on the market.
Zucchi refers, among others, to 3D printing: “This already gives an idea of how flexible our production is, because we can offer ad hoc solutions in terms of colours, textures, finishes and kind of light sources. All with the same production method“. In recent years, he adds, the lighting culture has developed significantly and Italy continues to play a central role: “Italian studios are working all over the world and are particularly requested by our partners. That means that Italian designers are, as usual, a great added value“. For this reason, the Partner Summit confirms itself as a valuable opportunity to give rise to new collaborations amidst different skills.
In retail, lighting is a strategic lever: it shapes the customer experience, enhances the space, directs shopping paths and communicates brand values. In this context, Signify’s offer finds one of its most advanced applications.
“Fast upgrades, lasting impacts” summarises the group’s objectives: energy-consumption reduction, retrofit easing, light management improvement – even remotely – and plant regeneration services enhancement.
Rafael Biagioni, Segment Marketing Manager at Signify Italia, recalled NatureConnect in particular: “It is an immersive, biophilic lighting system that reproduces the natural daylight rhythm and the view of the sky indoors. In retail, it transforms windowless and dark areas into attractive environments, improving the shopping experience. Many customers looking at the ceiling or wall really think they are looking at the sky and enjoying the sunlight. This technology, initially designed for offices or care and wellness spaces in some Northern European countries, has also become particularly popular in the retail sector, supermarkets and fresh produce departments.
This is the case, for example, with the PLUS chain in the Netherlands.”
The Brighter Lives, Better World 2030 program was created to expand access to efficient lighting solutions, improve quality of life, reduce consumption and conserve resources, including through Signify Switch and Signify Circle.
“It is designed to offer solutions able to improve quality of life, reduce energy consumption and promote a more efficient use of resources – exactly what our customers want from us,” said As Tempelman, CEO of Signify. “It shows how impact and opportunity can move together.” Also on display at the show was the upgrade of Signify Interact, now available in the Intelligent Buildings version: a connected lighting platform that offers advanced insight and control over the lighting infrastructure, with real-time monitoring, automation and optimisation.
