Vittorio Grassi Architects signs the Porta Pamphili project in Rome

29 February 2024

One of the most eagerly-awaited urban regeneration projects in the Italian capital, where the beauty of history blends with a new idea of living

The construction site of Porta Pamphili in Rome, a residential project designed by Vittorio Grassi Architects, is underway. A prestigious urban redevelopment project that makes the nearby Villa Pamphili a point of reference. Sustainability, the central role of nature, comfort and an innovative vision of the living concept represent its primary distinctive values. This regenerated urban oasis will be revamping a portion of the city with modern services and spaces, outlining a new residential dimension in Rome that will be an integral part of an innovative community. The intervention is managed by Savills Investment Management SGR SpA, manager of the RTC Italy Fund, with Lumi Asset Management srl as advisor.

“In recent years, our way of living the house has changed. Now, more generously sized and bright rooms that overlook the outdoor environment and spaces for outdoor living are no longer luxury but a need. The home is a hybrid space where people spend more and more time working, taking care of themselves, hosting friends or experiencing neighbourhood relationships. Talking about the Porta Pamphili project, the aim is to develop an even more advanced model, wanting to build a new community. Through the numerous equipped spaces available to the condominiums, a kindergarten and a school also dedicated to the local community, we want to rediscover the pleasure of experiencing social relationships in a unique natural landscape,” says Vittorio Grassi, Founder of VGA Vittorio Grassi Architects.

The complex is located in the Municipio XII of Rome municipality, in a semi-central area, just 20 minutes from Vatican City, Trastevere and EUR. The lot in which the building is located borders to the south with a large park that is part of the Valle dei Casali. The strategic location where it is allows an easy connection with the city, anyway ensuring disconnection from the stress and frenetic urban rhythms. These are essential factors in an era in which environmental awareness and comfort have become priorities.

The intervention puts the family at the centre and recognises the importance of dedicated and safe spaces where children can play, learn and grow close to their homes.

From an architectural point of view, the residential complex consists of an elevated structure of eight floors above ground, overlooking the large park of the Valle dei Casali, and two underground levels intended for private parking with access by ramps from street level.

The wide range of housing options has 154 apartments in total – from studios to spacious four-room apartments – all designed with a “non-ordinary home” concept in mind. The partnership with the Milano Contract District design platform allows each unit to offer the excellence of the best brands in the sector and fine finishes. Sinuous shapes and colours characterise the architecture of Porta Pamphili, harmonically dialoguing with the surrounding landscape.
