To tell the story of MACO, it is important to remember that – like every story – MACO’s story unfolds on the tracks of time, and MACO’s tracks span seventy years. A company that was first artisanal, then industrial, capable of carving out a place for itself at the top of the rankings for the production of hardware and accessories for the furniture sector.
MACO was founded in 1955, in the post-war period, thanks to the initiative of Carlo Mauri and Virginio Confalonieri, long-time friends from Seregno. Coming from experience as employees in local companies, they decided to make the most of their professional skills and start their own business.
In 1983, the founders’ children, Angelo Mauri and Roberto Confalonieri, joined the company, strengthening the collaboration between the two families. Angelo managed sales and administration, while Roberto took care of technical and production aspects. Their energy led the company to participate in international trade fairs and consolidate relationships with foreign clients.
In 2005, MACO moved to its new headquarters on Macallè Street: 6,000 square meters of covered space on a site of over 10,000 square meters. In addition to production and sales, the facility also hosts product design and the development of customized solutions for clients.
In 2010, the company developed and perfected its first concealed push-latch. In 2020, the third generation – Alessandro, Omar, and Edoardo – joined the company, confirming its continuous growth and the continuation of a journey that began over 65 years ago.
In 2022, the installation of 500 photovoltaic panels for production and self-consumption marked the beginning of MACO’s green transition. In 2023, MACO installed its first fully automated 4.0 assembly line, followed by its first semi-automatic packaging machine. Investments in robotics and technology increased production without reducing the workforce, which still numbered 30 employees in 2025.
Today, MACO is a mature and well-established international company. Over 50% of its revenue comes from exports, with products sold in more than 70 countries. With over seven decades of experience and quality, MACO continues to grow while staying true to the artisanal tradition that has made it renowned worldwide.
